About the Team:
Lambeth's Emergency Duty Team (EDT) is a dynamic and highly regarded out-of-hours service providing emergency social work and mental health responses across Children's Services, Adult Social Care, and the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) service. Operating evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, the team works at the frontline of crisis intervention, safeguarding vulnerable residents and responding to urgent situations when daytime services are unavailable.
Our practitioners are experienced, resilient, and committed to delivering high-quality services in complex and often fast-paced environments. Team members benefit from a supportive management structure, regular reflective supervision, and strong peer support, enabling staff to develop confidence in autonomous decision-making while working collaboratively with key partners, including health services, police, hospitals, and community organisations.
A particular strength of the service is its commitment to professional development. For Social Workers who aspire to become Approved Mental Health Professionals, EDT offers exposure to a wide range of mental health crises, safeguarding concerns, and multi-agency decision-making, providing excellent preparation for future AMHP training. About the Role:
This is a permanent post within EDT as a Children’s and Adult’s qualified social worker, with the opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and experience in relation to mental health work in respect of children and adults, to progress to an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) following successful completion of the AMHP training.
