Bereavement Services is seeking a Crematorium Operative. We are looking for a dedicated team member to manage all operational aspects of the cremation and memorial services. This role involves overseeing the process from the arrival of the funeral at the crematorium to the disposal and commemoration of cremated remains, in accordance with Council policies, Service standards and procedures, legal requirements, professional codes of practice, and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Routine maintenance and improvement of the grounds and facilities
- Updating internal records
- Assisting bereaved families and funeral professionals
You will be crucial in providing a high-quality service to the bereaved, working on over 3,000 cremations annually. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and experience supporting individuals in sensitive situations. In addition to cremation duties, you will assist with chapel attendant responsibilities and the burial of cremated remains. You will need to communicate with funeral professionals and members of the public sensitively and respectfully.
