A fantastic opportunity to join our award-winning Events Team. Havering Council’s award-winning Events Team is looking for a dedicated and highly organised Events Logistics and Operations Officer to support the delivery of a diverse and exciting programme of events across the borough.
Working at the heart of our events service, you’ll play a key role in enabling community and commercial events in our parks, while also delivering high-quality Council-led civic and ceremonial events.
About the role
As Events Logistics and Operations Officer, you will provide essential operational, logistical, financial and administrative support to the Events Manager and wider Communications and Engagement Team. This is a varied role with two key areas of focus:
- Supporting external events in parks and public spaces
- Act as a key point of contact for event organisers and site hirers, guiding them through the application and booking process.
- Support and attend site visits to assess suitability and showcase available locations.
- Coordinate event applications, plans and documentation, ensuring all requirements are submitted and compliant.
- Produce quotations, confirmations and booking paperwork.
- Liaise with internal teams and partners to progress applications through approval.
- Delivering Council-led civic and ceremonial events
- Support the Events Manager with the logistics and operational delivery of Council civic events and ceremonies.
- Organise and deliver the Council’s flag-raising ceremonies, ensuring all protocol requirements are met.
- Coordinate arrangements for senior leaders, elected Members and visiting dignitaries.
- Ensure events are delivered to a high standard, reflecting the Council’s reputation.
Event delivery and operational support
- Coordinate event logistics, including equipment, suppliers and on-site arrangements.
- Support on-site event delivery across a range of event types, resolving operational issues as they arise.
- Maintain accurate records, including financial tracking, compliance documentation and post-event evaluations.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role requiring flexibility, including evening and weekend working.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in event coordination, logistics or event administration within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting customers or clients through bookings, applications or service processes.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging a wide range of stakeholders, including event organisers, senior leaders and partners.
- High attention to detail, particularly when managing documentation, compliance and financial information.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with digital systems or social media is desirable.
You’ll also bring a positive, resilient attitude and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality events and excellent customer service.
