The Corporate Health & Safety Team is dedicated towards providing a comprehensive service that is professional, ethical and high quality to our clients in order that they can achieve the highest standards of health and safety excellence and compliance. The Health and Safety Team’s focus is delivery of high quality services. A combination of audit, compliance monitoring, support, investigations and training are provided to clients to enable them to fulfil their statutory duties.
About the Job
- Act as the competent person to ensure that the organisation is legally compliant in its asbestos management arrangements, including all corporate works, repairs, and maintenance of asbestos (including within community schools).
- Be responsible for statutory compliance with asbestos regulations and associated compliance, including the management of contractors, data management, monitoring arrangements and the production and management of KPIs, including all pre- and post-contract management.
- Be responsible for the remedial contract works for both urgent and planned works.
- In conjunction with the Corporate Health & Safety Team Manager, to be accountable for ensuring that the service is effectively planned and delivered and that the budget is effectively managed and KPIs are met.
- Organise Asbestos Management Surveys and Refurbishment and Demolition surveys.
- Develop strategies and policy to reflect the legislation, statutory obligations and current guidance.
- Audit & monitor arrangements, including on-site visits.
- Be responsible for managing the asbestos part of the planned programme of works in community schools and corporate buildings including monitoring of works and handovers e.g. boiler replacements, window replacements, upgrading works etc.
- Be responsible for the day to day management and any emergencies and be the main liaison for all asbestos related works including queries, on-site monitoring, dealing with asbestos fly tipping etc.
- Liaise with schools and clients and ensure they are appropriately trained in asbestos day-to-day management and monitoring. This will involve the delivery of training on a 1:1 and group basis.
- Work closely with the Support Officer/s to ensure recharges and other budget matters are dealt with.
About You
- Candidates will be required to have relevant asbestos qualifications. The P405 – Proficiency Certificate in Management of Asbestos in Buildings is preferred but any P400 series qualifications will be considered. It is also desirable to have the Certificate of Competence in Asbestos (CoC Asbestos).
- We would consider Health and Safety professionals with a strong background in Asbestos management.
- Experience in management of asbestos in multi-use large complex organisations.
- Health and Safety experience.
- Experience in managing large scale works and co-ordinating asbestos removals in corporate and school premises.
- Experience in estimating works against a schedule of rates.
