Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily litigation service for Broxbourne Council and East Herts District Council.
- Handle a varied and complex caseload, representing the Council in County Court and Magistrate Court proceedings.
- Ensure delivery of a responsive, trusted, and customer‑focused in‑house legal service.
- Work across housing possessions, anti‑social behaviour, debt recovery, commercial property litigations, fly‑tipping, licensing matters, planning enforcement and other matters.
- Provide flexibility, including part‑time job sharing and the option to work part of the week from home.
Qualifications
- Post‑qualification experience in litigation with excellent knowledge of court proceedings.
- Strong advocacy skills and the ability to communicate legal issues clearly in writing and verbally.
- Capacity to manage complex workloads efficiently and support colleagues.
- Self‑motivation, sound judgement, professionalism and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English.
