The Post We are excited to offer a key role at the heart of transforming how Social Care payments are delivered in Brent. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our Social Care Payments Service and play a central part in modernising our payment processes. As part of the team, you will support the accurate and timely payment of all Adult Social Care and Children and Young People's care providers, including direct payment carers and foster carers, ensuring providers are properly remunerated for the vital care they deliver. You will lead the day‐to‐day operations of the service, providing strong leadership and management to Payments Officers. Your focus will be on driving high performance, ensuring effective operational delivery, and developing the capability of staff, motivating and mentoring the team to deliver excellence. The Person We are looking for someone with strong experience leading successful teams within payment services, with a proven track record in payment systems, accurate financial transaction processing, and advanced Excel skills. You will bring a solid understanding of reconciliations, payment runs, and system compliance, along with the confidence to lead, innovate, and drive positive change across a developing service. You will be an excellent communicator, able to work across multiple workstreams and build effective relationships both within the council and with external partners. As the key point of escalation, you will be confident in resolving complex finance issues and providing clear, solutions‐focused guidance. You will also be skilled in analysing and presenting performance data, offering senior leaders clear insights that support continuous improvement and informed decision‐making.
