The Post
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join a dynamic and growing Infrastructure Planning Team, in a borough that has an ambitious programme for regeneration and growth that is inclusive and delivers real benefits for its businesses, residents and communities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive contribution to ensure regeneration and growth in the borough is delivered in line with Brent's Local Plan and Borough Plan priorities through the planning and provision of infrastructure.
At principal level you will supervise career grade officers and lead collection and processing of CIL income and s106 financial and non-financial contributions. You will proactively provide advice to colleagues and applicants on s106 obligations, CIL, infrastructure, planning applications and pre-application enquiries. You will establish and improve effective S106 and CIL processes, reconcile s106 and CIL accounts, and transfer MCIL collected on behalf of the Mayor of London. Working with the Infrastructure Planning Manager you will develop a new Infrastructure Delivery Plan, to better prioritise and deploy S106, CIL and other capital investment, to deliver infrastructure that best supports development and growth for the benefit of new and existing communities alike.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced planner (or equivalent background and qualification) to further develop their career in this vibrant and diverse borough in north-west London. This permanent post is based at Brent Council's award-winning offices at the heart of the Wembley Park regeneration and within walking distance of Wembley Park station.
The Person
You will have passion and enthusiasm for infrastructure planning, a track record of delivery, and desire to play your part in ensuring Brent's diverse communities can participate and share in the benefits of regeneration and growth. Experience of infrastructure planning and supervising staff, a comprehensive knowledge of s106 and CIL legislation and regulations, infrastructure planning policy and issues, as well as partnership working between the public and private sector, will be essential to ensure successful delivery of service objectives, and infrastructure planning and project delivery.
With a positive can do attitude, you will take the initiative and be creative in problem solving and planning, collecting and investing s106 and CIL. The role presents a fantastic opportunity for a well‐organised, highly motivated individual, passionate about infrastructure planning to deliver high quality outcomes and projects.
