Salary range: £44,685 - £48,003 (pro rata) p.a. incl. London weighting (plus fantastic benefits!)

Contract: Permanent – Term Time only

Hours of work: 36 hours per week

Location: Civic Centre and other locations from time to time

The Post

  • We are looking for a committed and experienced Inclusion Support Officer to join our Inclusion Support Team. This is a key role in supporting schools to keep children and young people engaged in education and reduce exclusions.
  • Act as the main contact for a cluster of schools, providing advice and guidance on strategies to prevent exclusions.
  • Develop and implement Pastoral Support Plans (PSPs) for pupils at risk of exclusion.
  • Support schools in raising achievement for children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD).
  • Represent the local authority at governor disciplinary hearings and exclusion appeal panels.
  • Lead multi‑agency meetings and collaborate with services such as Education Welfare, Social Care, and SEND.
  • Ensure compliance with DfE guidelines and Council policies on exclusions and managed moves.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will make a real difference to the lives of children and young people in Brent.

The Person

  • Passionate about inclusion and committed to safeguarding and inclusion.
  • Skilled at building relationships with schools, families and professionals.
  • Confident in managing a varied caseload and working under pressure.
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to our Brent values.
  • Experienced in supporting pupils at risk of exclusion and delivering training to professionals.
  • You will have a Teaching, Social Work or Youth Work qualification, or equivalent relevant experience and evidence of professional development in the last 3 years.
