As a council we want to build on these strengths as we move into the future. We are growing and developing as an organisation to meet the challenges facing our borough and we are committed to working with partner organisations and residents to make Barnet even better. Our staff are committed to Our Values: Learning to Improve, Caring, Inclusive, Collaborative – which drive everything we do.

About the role

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Administrator to support the delivery of grant programmes, community asset processes and wider business support activities within the Strategy, Engagement, Culture and Sustainability team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to work that strengthens Barnet's voluntary, community and faith sector (VCFS), helping local organisations access funding, demonstrate their impact and make the most of community assets. Through your work, you will play a key role in supporting a sustainable, resilient and connected community sector that contributes to the council's wider priorities. The successful candidate will provide financial and administrative support across a range of programmes, ensuring applications, payments, monitoring data and records are processed accurately and efficiently. You will work closely with colleagues, community organisations and stakeholders to provide excellent customer service and ensure robust governance and compliance.

About you

You will be an excellent administrator with strong attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and delivering a high standard of service. You will have experience providing administrative and business support, including data management, minute taking, report writing, customer service and handling confidential information. You will also be confident managing financial records and monitoring information, ensuring that systems, processes and documentation are accurate, compliant and up to date. You will be an effective communicator with strong verbal and written skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, community organisations and external stakeholders. Strong organisational skills, sound judgement and a professional approach are essential, alongside the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and competing demands. An understanding of the voluntary, community and faith sector would also be beneficial but not essential. Above all, you will share Barnet Council's commitment to delivering excellent services, supporting communities and working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
