The Environmental Health - Consumer and Public Protection Service sits within the Assurance and Public Protection Directorate. Are you interested in contributing to the reduction of noise, nuisance and public health issues for the residents and workers of Barnet? We are seeking a dedicated officer to join Public Health & Noise Nuisance Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating nuisance issues including noise, smoke, odour, and light; and public health issues relating to drainage, refuse and pests. The successful candidate will contribute to a front line ‘witnessing’ service, carrying out visits and gathering evidence of reported breaches. You will be required to work some weekend nightshifts as part of a shift rotation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrating excellent communication skills and confidence in handling potentially confrontational situations with the public.
- Attending court as a witness when necessary.
Essential qualifications and skills:
- A good standard of knowledge of legislation pertaining to statutory nuisance and demonstrable experience.
