We are seeking to appoint an experienced, passionate and forwardâthinking Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Inclusion to further strengthen our already strong provision for children with Special Educational Needs, vulnerable groups and children with English as an Additional Language (EAL). This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader to make a meaningful, wholeâschool impact.
As a key member of the Senior Management Team and Designated Safeguarding Team, the successful candidate will have strategic responsibility for inclusion across the school. They will work closely with staff, children, families and external professionals to ensure inclusive practice is consistently highâquality and embedded across all areas of school life.
This is a nonâclassâbased role, enabling a clear focus on leadership, intervention and impact. The role includes leading targeted support and intervention, developing staff practice and providing leadership cover when required.
We are looking for a leader who:
- Is an active, reflective and committed member of a Senior Management Team
- Has a proven track record of strong leadership and excellent teaching practice
- Is deeply committed to inclusion, equality and safeguarding
- Supports and empowers class teachers to deliver highâquality provision and effective interventions
- Leads, supports and develops a skilled and valued team of teaching assistants
- Monitors, evaluates and improves outcomes for vulnerable groups through strategic action
- Has a strong working knowledge of SEN legislation and inclusive practice
- Works effectively with external agencies and professionals
- Can inspire, develop and strategically lead inclusive practice across the school
The successful applicant will hold the National Award for SEN Coordination, or be willing to work towards it.
