Role Overview
Work as part of a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team to review and process adult social care cases with outstanding debt to the local authority and develop more effective processes to prevent debt occurring and address it early. This role will be based within Customer Finance but will work across Multidisciplinary Teams with a focus on debt recovery arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review case notes and collaborate with social care staff to understand client circumstances and case history, including reasons for debt.
- Work with clients and their families/carers to resolve queries and arrange payments of outstanding debts, including phone calls and, where appropriate, home visits.
- Complete or update financial assessments and set up ongoing payment arrangements to avoid future debts, promoting direct debit where possible.
- Update case notes to ensure accuracy and support ongoing case management.
- Support work to agree best working processes for the department and contribute to written policies and procedures.
- Provide regular feedback to the Customer Finance Team Manager on casework progress, escalating issues that delay recovery or involve complexity requiring management oversight.
- Work closely with external agencies in debt recovery activity, ensuring clients and families have access to appropriate support.
- Maintain up‑to‑date case information, including financial data, on Mosaic to enable reporting and tracking of outstanding debt.
- Implement and maintain appropriate financial control procedures, rigorously applying restrictions around recovery arrangements as set out in policy.
