About the role: As a Financial Assessment Officer, you will play a key role in delivering the Council’s financial assessment and income service for Adult Social Care. Working as part of a supportive team, you will calculate client contributions towards residential and community care services, ensuring assessments are completed accurately and in line with the Care Act and the Council’s Fairer Contributions Policy. You will provide advice and support to service users, their representatives and professionals, helping to maximise income and resolve financial queries. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, raising invoices, supporting debt recovery processes and working collaboratively with colleagues across the Council and external agencies to deliver an efficient and customer-focused service.
About you: To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience of undertaking financial assessments, income collection, billing, debt recovery, or working within a financial administration environment.
- Knowledge of the Care Act, Fairer Charging/Fairer Contributions principles, or the ability to interpret and apply complex legislation, policies and guidance.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly and sensitively to a range of audiences.
- Experience of working with vulnerable customers and managing sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and empathy.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and electronic systems or databases.
