About the role

Borough Kitchen is looking for a skilled and passionate Cook School Chef to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead engaging, high-quality cooking classes and demonstrations, building our customers’ confidence in the kitchen while sharing your knowledge of ingredients, techniques and recipes. We’re looking for someone who feels at home in the kitchen and enjoys sharing that with others. You’re a confident communicator who likes explaining not just how things are done, but why. Teaching experience is useful, but not essential. What matters most is your enthusiasm for food and your ability to create a welcoming, relaxed and inspiring experience for our guests.

Key responsibilities:

  • Host our guests in a warm and friendly environment
  • Confident communicator who enjoys sharing skills and knowledge, focusing on the why not just the how.
  • Prepare cooking classes, ensuring all ingredients and equipment are ready with a focus on cleanliness, safety, and efficiency
  • Deliver engaging and informative cooking classes and demonstrations
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering any questions and ensuring a positive experience for guests
  • Maintain a clean and organised cooking area
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Clean down after classes together with the Cook School Assistant

Requirements

  • Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of various cuisines and techniques
  • Proven experience as a professional chef or culinary instructor
  • Passion for food and cooking, with a desire to share knowledge and inspire others
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Food hygiene and safety certification is a plus
