Residential Aged Care – Faversham House | Gardener
BASScare is a NFP which operates anintegrated program of services including meals-on-wheels,residential care facilities, respite care, dementia specificservices, retirement living, as well as planned activity groups atday centres, for older people who wish to remain active and engagedwith their local communities.
BASScare is located in the leafysuburb of Canterbury and we are currently seeking a passionate andcommitted Assistant Gardener in a full-time position.
The Role
This role is so much more thanmaintaining grounds, and gardens. More importantly it\’s about theability to connect with our residents and clients that we providecare and support which is core to what we do on a day-to-daybasis.
You will be working under theguidance of the Head Gardener and will assist in ensuring allproperties, grounds and gardens are maintained and presentwell.
Some of the dutiesinclude:
- Providegarden and ground keeping services including but notlimited to plant cultivation, plant identification,pruning, weed control, turf management and soilmanagement.
- Assist withmaintaining all gardens including landscaping, mowing,whipper snipping and hedging, water fountains are cleanedand maintained with fresh cleanwater.
- Assist withmaintaining all entrances/exits, courtyards and gardens toan agreed standard of safety andappearance.
- Collect andremove garden waste, small tree branches and leaves,rubbish and spills to ensure clean, safe and presentablegardens.
- Ensure alloutdoor furniture is kept clean, tidy and washed anddisplayed properly.
- Interactmeaningfully with the residents andclients.
- Operate andmaintain gardening machinery and equipment to requiredsafety standards.

Requirements
- CertificateIV in Horticulture or similar
- Someexperience working in a professional horticulturalenvironment.
- Willingnessto learn about the needs of visitors and elderly residentsthat visit our gardens.
- Somehorticultural knowledge, plant and herb identificationskills.
- Ability andexperience in the use of lawn mowers (including ride-on),whipper snipers and hedgingequipment.
- Initiativeand the ability to work with minimumsupervision.
- Able to meetthe physical requirements of therole.
- CurrentSatisfactory Police Check.
Hours of work andlocation
Full Time position
Monday to Friday. 7.30m –3.36pm
Working across multiple BASScaresites, Canterbury, Surrey Hills, Balwyn North & Glen Iris.Y ou may have use of a company vehicle to travel tosites.
