We are looking to recruit a Systems Developer to play a key supporting role across the BiB family of projects. Born in Bradford (BiB) is an internationally recognised research programme which aims to find out what keeps families healthy and happy. We have a vast ‘City of Research’ infrastructure which includes detailed health and wellbeing information on Bradfordians enrolled in our three birth cohort studies and a connected routine dataset of health, social care and education data for over 700,000 citizens living in Bradford and Airedale. We host a range of initiatives to improve population health, working with the local authority, health, education, cultural and voluntary sector providers to develop, implement and evaluate ambitious research programmes.

Born in Bradford is seeking a Systems Developer to join the BiB Research IT Development Team in a key supporting role. The successful applicant will be an experienced software developer or systems programmer with a flair for gathering complex systems requirements across a non-technical multidisciplinary team. They will join a team of systems developers, database specialists and analysts in supporting the work of leading epidemiologists and health researchers from across the UK who are working in close partnership as part of Born in Bradford.

Main duties:
  • Support and develop information systems and tools across the BiB projects in collaboration with researchers, analysts, and IT staff.
  • Gather, analyse, and document complex system requirements from a non-technical, multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with a team of systems developers, database specialists, and analysts to support epidemiologists and health researchers across the UK.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a software developer or systems programmer.
  • Strong ability to gather and translate complex requirements for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and across research IT environments is desirable.
