We are seeking to hire an Equity Research Manager into our Leeds-based investment team. If you are curious and self-motivated, with experience of creating bottom up investment research for global equities, this is a great opportunity. This role will focus on the Financials Services sector not including banks and insurance including Exchanges, Payments, Asset Managers, Private Equity (listed companies) and Real Estate Investment Trusts). Experience supporting Emerging Markets would also be beneficial.
Our Research Managers create high quality investment research on companies in global equity sectors, supporting sound investment decisions by internal Equity Portfolio Managers that fully integrate Responsible Investment principles and achieve long term investment returns. The wider investment team manages both internal (direct securities) and external (selecting fund managers) investment products with defined risk/return objectives across Public Equities, Fixed Income, Alternatives and Real Estate. Ultimately Border to Coast is an investment business and its success is determined by the investment performance we generate for our Partner Funds.
The role what youll be doing
As anEquity Research Manageryour role is hugely important and will include:
- Conducting detailed fundamental research on companies in the Financials sector, generating investment research to facilitate Portfolio Manager portfolio construction in accordance with Border to Coast Investment philosophy, investment process, and procedures.
- Evaluating new stock ideas for inclusion in relevant portfolios in conjunction with Portfolio Managers.
- Playing an active role in constructively and respectfully challenging the information, analysis and logic supporting the recommendations of research team colleagues and investment approach of Internal Equity Portfolio Managers, seeking to enable performance of internal funds, sharing insight and subject matter expertise to develop the capability of others and develop our investment culture.
- Active participation in investment team meetings, company meetings and conferences.
- Engaging with both the Portfolio Risk and Responsible Investment teams to ensure an integrated investment approach.

- Understanding of financial income, cashflow and balance sheet models in order to support investment thesis.

- Experience of working within investment analysis and/or accountancy
- Keen interest in, and understanding of, investment markets, long-term investment, and commitment to responsible investment and sustainability
- Educated to degree level or equivalent and CFA Charterholder.
- Experience in the Financials sector (Exchanges, Payments, Asset Managers, Private Equity (listed companies) and Real Estate Investment Trusts).
- Experience in Emerging Markets would also be beneficial.

Border to Coast is the largest LGPS (Local Government Pension Scheme) pool in the UK. It is owned by 11 Local Government Pension Schemes (Partner Funds). The Partner Funds represent 3,100 employers and over a million members.
The Partner Funds are Bedfordshire, Cumbria, Durham, East Riding, Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Surrey, Teesside, Tyne and Wear and Warwickshire.
