We are seeking a Portfolio Manager to join our Alternatives function and lead the development and implementation of a new Local Investment capability. The role involves engaging with Partner Funds to understand local investment ambitions and collaborating with regional and mayoral authorities to identify aligned opportunities. Asset classes may include regional Private Equity, Venture Capital, Direct Lending, Housing, and Development Lending.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the local investment programme.
- Engage with Partner Funds and regional/government stakeholders to identify investment opportunities.
- Determine asset‑class strategy in line with Partner Fund ambitions.
- Work closely with the UK Opportunities PM on portfolio construction.
- Conduct due diligence, reviewing investment, operational, and ESG factors.
- Monitor portfolio performance and manage risks.
Qualifications
- Degree level education and a suitable investment‑management qualification.
- Experience investing in Private Market funds (including co‑investments) and local investment strategies.
- Strong knowledge of UK market and regionally focused asset managers.
- Familiarity with strategies focused on 'additionality' delivering financial returns while contributing to UK or regional economic growth.
- Experience leading due diligence, investment decision‑making, portfolio construction, and risk management.
- Proficiency with investment‑management software, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
