What the Role Covers
About The Role
As Production Manager, you would be responsible for the effective operation of our site at the weekends. You will lead a team of a Shift Supervisor and 2x Line Leaders across the Production, Hygiene and Warehouse departments. You may be asked to work various shifts, including mornings, days or afternoons. While the role operates Friday to Monday dayshift, you may be required to work more flexibly to support the business, for example to support key projects during peak periods.
You will be a key leader at Border, and will coach, develop and support your team to achieve excellence. You will drive a strong safety culture within your teams, ensuring that they always adhere to health and safety and food safety practices. You will support the Company goals by engaging your teams, supporting Company engagement initiatives.
You will ensure that our KPIs are met, including labour costs, attainment to plan and waste, as well as safety, quality and employee engagement metrics. You will play a key role in delivering continuous improvement projects, working closely with the Continuous Improvement Partner to drive a culture of continuous improvement across the whole manufacturing team, developing the teams to their true potential. You will also support Capex initiatives, projects and new product development launches, ensuring that operations fully support Borderβs ambition to grow.
You will be accountable for overseeing employee relations in your area, effectively managing absence and performance at all levels. You are accountable for rolling out a programme of audits in your area, ensuring that Border remains a safe place work, and that your teams are operating in line with Good Manufacturing Practices at all times.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with significant experience in a leadership role within an FMCG Company. IT skills are a must within this role and use of an ERP system such as Microsoft Navision would be ideal. Significant experience applying lean principles is needed in this role. A qualification in continuous improvement, such as six sigma would be required, as would any qualifications in project management, health and safety and food safety.
The most important skill we are looking for in this role is leadership, role modelling the right behaviours, and coaching and developing their team. They will have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate and build relationships across the business. They will have excellent prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to focus on the important rather than just the urgent. Having excellent judgment, and the ability to set clear expectations and have courageous conversations where needed is a must.
