ABOUT THE ROLE

The Planning and Procurement Assistant will be responsible for the daily running of our Material Requirements Planning (MRP) System, placing all orders, call offs and keeping the system up to date with accurate information. Working collaboratively with Sales and all operational functions to help drive efficiencies and lower costs across the supply chain. The successful candidate will support the Planning and Procurement Manager with day-to-day transactional duties, as well as supporting the business in developing and managing robust relationships with our Suppliers. The Planning and Procurement Assistant will play a key role in supporting cross‑functional processes and identify key projects to drive continuous improvement and the implementation of best practice solutions.

KEY DUTIES

  • Management of the MRP System, including placing purchase orders, contract call offs.
  • Source, negotiate and process orders for consumables items.
  • Support and assist where required with cross‑functional processes and projects within the Supply Chain function.
  • Act as a first point of contact for suppliers, updating or adjusting scheduled deliveries where required.
  • Support in the continuous improvement of Inventory Management processes and required investigations.
  • Report on gathered data to continually assess and highlight new or changing demands.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all material transactions and supplier communications.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure timely delivery of materials in accordance with production schedules.
  • Work proactively to prevent delays in material delivery and address any supply chain disruptions promptly.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience of working in a similar role within a FMCG/manufacturing environment.
  • A good understanding and working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Excel skills.
  • Excellent numeracy, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong and confident communicator.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Passion for continuous improvement.
