Welcome to the Boots Pharmacy Operations Team – an exciting team at the heart of Boots UK’s growth plans. As a Pharmacy Support Manager (PSM), you will play a critical field-based leadership role in driving operational excellence, compliance, and sustainable pharmacy growth across your region. You will partner with store and regional leadership teams to deliver brilliant patient care, improve performance, and successfully implement strategic initiatives.
You will bring the company’s strategic narrative to life by connecting day-to-day activity with long-term business goals—ensuring every pharmacy delivers a consistent, high-quality customer experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
In the Pharmacy Support Manager role, you will report to the Regional Pharmacy Operations Manager for the South Region and strategically align to the central pharmacy operations team agenda.
- Lead and influence pharmacy teams to deliver against key operational and commercial KPIs
- Drive a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement across your areas
- Use data and insight to identify performance gaps and implement clear, targeted action plans
- Support stores with structured interventions to deliver rapid, sustainable improvements
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong, effective relationships with Store Managers, Area Managers, Pharmacy leaders, and support functions
- Act as a trusted partner, influencing and challenging stakeholders to improve performance.
Operational Excellence & Growth
- Drive improvements in service efficiency, including prescription flow, turnaround times, and digital adoption
- Act as a subject matter expert in pharmacy operations, supporting stores to optimise performance
- Ensure consistent execution of company initiatives to a “right first time” standard
Implementation & Innovation
- Lead the field implementation of new strategic initiatives and transformation programmes
- Ensure clear communication of the “why” and “so what” to maximise engagement and adoption
- Collaborate with central and regional teams to refine and improve rollout of new processes
- Monitor delivery against timelines, addressing risks and barriers proactively
- Share best practice and learning across your areas.
Stock, Loss & Profitability
- Lead initiatives to improve stock management, reduce waste, and optimise working capital
- Deliver against pharmacy loss targets, including reducing out-of-date stock and improving accounting accuracy
- Improve pharmacy stock file accuracy and minimise manual interventions
- Work with store teams to drive an owner-manager mindset around profitability and cost control
What You’ll Need to Have (Our Must-Haves)
- GPhC registered pharmacist or GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for delivering excellent customer service.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and change management.
