Are you ready to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment? As the Resourcing and Workload Planning Manager at Boots, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring our stores have the right clinical resources at the right time. This is a permanent position based in Nottingham, where you’ll balance customer demand, colleague capacity, and cost, working closely with retail leaders to support excellent patient care.
What You’ll Be Doing:
In this senior role within Boots Opticians, reporting into the Head of Retail - England, you will lead a high-performing resourcing and workload planning function. Your responsibilities will include:
- You will line manage a team of deployment leads, resourcing administrators and analysts, providing strong leadership across both field‑facing and central teams.
- Managing clinic volumes, costs and locum rates, alongside maintaining strong oversight of the locum database and external supply market.
- You’ll also be accountable for workload planning decisions that affect stores and customers.
- A key part of the role is leading the implementation of future workload and communication platforms, creating a single source of truth for store activity.
What You’ll Need to Have (Our Must-Haves):
- Strong experience in resourcing, workforce planning, or operational planning in multisite retail or clinical environments.
- Proven ability to plan, budget, and control costs effectively.
- Ability to balance customer service, operational capacity and financial performance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and analytical skills.
- Experience leading and developing teams, managing performance remotely.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have:
- Experience within optical, healthcare or highly regulated retail environments.
- Knowledge of the UK opticians employment and locum market.
- Experience working closely with Finance, HR and central support functions.
- Background in workload modelling or capacity planning at scale.
- Experience implementing enterprise planning or workforce platforms.
- Understanding of store operations and the realities of frontline retail delivery.
