What you’ll be doing
Welcome to the Central Pharmacy Operations Team – a dynamic group at the heart of Boots Pharmacy & Healthcare business. We ensure our stores, colleagues, and business have the tools, guidance, and support needed to ensure compliance with our contractual obligations and meet our customers' needs across the UK.
As Pharmacy Operations Manager, you’ll report to the Head of Central Pharmacy Operations and lead a team of Operations Leads and Assistants. You’ll be responsible for translating business strategy into effective operational delivery, ensuring compliance, consistency, and continuous improvement across our pharmacy network with a specific focus on our prescription items business.
Key responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Operations Leads, providing coaching and performance oversight.
  • Oversee the creation and delivery of operational initiatives that will drive our Prescription Items business across both Care & Core.
  • Support Pharmacy Transformation initiatives to ensure they land right first time
  • Collaboration with store & field teams to drive continuous process improvement
  • Support our pharmacy teams through providing the right guidance & communications
  • Develop and maintain operational frameworks and standards that support our items business.
  • Act as a senior liaison for internal and external stakeholders, including the NHS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, HR, L&D, PMO) to support the pilot and rollout of new services and systems.
  • Represent Pharmacy Operations in strategic forums and governance meetings

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
  • Experience in pharmacy operations.
  • Proven track record of managing teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in pharmacy.
  • Strategic planning and execution capabilities.
  • Leadership and team development.
  • Advanced communication and stakeholder management.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.

It would be great if you also have
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working with NHS and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to coach, develop talent, and handle difficult conversations.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
