As an Optometrist at Boots, you’ll play a key role in delivering brilliant patient care – using the latest tech, working alongside experienced colleagues, and supporting your community with clinical excellence. Whether you're leading a clinic, responding to triage, or mentoring others, no two days are the same, and your growth never stops.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading clinics and delivering outstanding patient care
  • Using the latest testing technology to assess eye health and provide expert advice
  • Providing enhanced services, from triage support to advanced assessments, depending on store needs
  • Offering clinical support to colleagues on the shop floor
  • Collaborating with external healthcare professionals
  • Keeping your clinical knowledge up to date and sharing it with others
  • Playing a key role in your store’s leadership team, bringing energy and insight to every shift

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves):

  • GOC registered (or expecting to be within 6 months)
  • NHS performer number (or working towards it)
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • A genuine interest in patient care and team collaboration

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience supporting enhanced services
  • A strong understanding of local clinical networks

Need to Know:

  • Full-time role (37.5 hours) – includes Wednesdays and Sundays off
  • Experienced Optometrist required
  • 2–3 clinics covering sight tests and contact lenses
  • 25-minute testing times with A3 digital records
  • Equipped with Optomap within a Boots Opticians Hearing Care store
  • Recognised as a Centre of Expertise (CoE) store with a strong focus on clinical standards and target delivery

The Team:

  • 3 resident Optometrists, 1 CLO, 1 Senior Dispensing Optician, and 2 Assistant Managers
  • Experienced, supportive, and friendly team environment

The Practice & Patients:

  • Loyal patient base with strong return rates
  • Mixed demographic, from children to more mature patients
  • Consistently delivers against performance targets

Location & Accessibility:

  • Located on the outskirts of Nottingham, with excellent access via main travel routes
