What you'll be doing
As a Senior Finance Analyst in Financial Planning and Analysis at Boots Opticians, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial narrative of our business. Your analytical expertise will provide critical insights that support effective decision-making and long-term growth. Collaborating closely with various teams, you will ensure that our financial planning processes are robust and aligned with our strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Support key planning cycles, including monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and three-year planning cycles across Finance and the wider business.
- Prepare and accurately upload sales and KPI forecasts and budget data into IBM Planning Analytics.
- Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, analysis, and Group submissions to support business, Group, and shareholder decision-making.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance Business Partners and the Controllership team to build a strong understanding of performance across the wider Opticians business.
- Prepare and maintain Group reporting submissions using IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), ensuring data accuracy and compliance with reporting timetables.
- Produce monthly and quarterly trading reviews, performance commentary, and insights on key risks and opportunities.
- Champion continuous improvement across FP&A processes, driving efficiency through automation and simplification.
- Communicate financial performance and key business drivers clearly to a range of stakeholders.
What you'll need to have (our must-haves)
- Newly or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) with finance or FP&A experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work on time.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to convert data into actionable insights.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex data analysis and scenario modelling.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence finance and non-finance audiences.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience of using IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) as this is the primary tool for all financial planning and reporting
- Experience of Power BI
- Familiarity with ESG and CSR reporting
