Are you ready to help shape the future of work at Boots?

At Boots, our people are the difference. They care for our customers, support each other, and bring our purpose to life every day. As we continue to evolve, we're looking for an exceptional Head of People Strategic Projects to help turn our ambition into action and our People Strategy into lasting impact.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the People function, partnering closely with the Chief People Officer and People Leadership Team to drive the priorities that will shape the future of our organisation. From transforming colleague experiences and accelerating strategic change, to creating the conditions for our people and business to thrive, your work will leave a lasting legacy across Boots.

If you are energised by solving complex challenges, enabling transformation and bringing people together behind a shared vision, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing:

In this highly visible leadership role, you'll be the driving force behind the successful delivery of our People agenda. You'll create the clarity, focus and momentum needed to translate strategy into action, ensuring our biggest priorities deliver meaningful outcomes for colleagues, leaders, customers and the wider business.

You'll connect the dots across our People portfolio, helping teams align around common goals, remove barriers to progress and maximise the impact of our investment in people, culture and capability.

More than governance and oversight, this role is about creating the conditions for success. You'll help shape how we work, how we deliver change and how we build a People function that is both strategically impactful and operationally brilliant.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted strategic partner to the Chief People Officer and People Leadership Team, helping translate ambition into execution and ensuring focus on what matters most.
  • Create the visibility, insight and confidence needed to make great decisions through meaningful portfolio reporting, risk management and performance tracking.
  • Shape and lead an integrated People roadmap that connects priorities, programmes and transformation activity into a coherent and outcome-focused plan.
  • Bring pace, clarity and accountability to strategic delivery, ensuring resources are aligned to the areas that create the greatest value.
  • Partner with People leaders and Centres of Excellence to successfully deliver transformational programmes that improve colleague experiences and business performance.
  • Champion change adoption and organisational readiness, helping leaders and teams embrace new ways of working and realise sustainable benefits.
  • Foster strong partnerships across Risk, Legal, Compliance and Internal Audit to ensure our plans are robust, responsible and future-focused.

What you'll need to have (our must-haves):

We're looking for a strategic thinker, trusted partner and accomplished delivery leader who can inspire confidence and bring people together around a common purpose.

You'll bring:

  • Experience within a People Transformation role
  • Significant experience in a strategic operations, transformation, PMO or business management leadership role.
  • A proven track record of leading complex organisational change and delivering enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior leaders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical capability, turning insight into action and outcomes.
  • The ability to navigate complexity, create clarity and bring structure to ambiguity.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with a talent for connecting people to a vision and driving alignment behind shared goals.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Expertise in programme governance, portfolio management and change delivery.
  • Experience working within a large-scale retail, healthcare or service-led environment.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or degree-level education.

Where your brilliance can take you:

This is more than a three-month assignment.

It's an opportunity to influence the future direction of one of the UK's most recognised brands, work alongside senior leaders, and play a key role in shaping how Boots supports, develops and empowers its people.

You'll gain exposure to strategic priorities at the highest level, build relationships across the organisation and make a tangible contribution to the future success of our business and colleagues.

A bit about us:
At Boots, we're creating a brilliant place to work where everyone feels welcome, valued and able to be themselves.

We believe that when our people thrive, our business thrives. That's why we're committed to building a culture where every colleague can grow, contribute and make a meaningful difference.

Together, we're creating a brilliant Boots for our colleagues, our customers and the communities we serve.

Come and help shape what's next for our people.
Be brilliant with Boots.
