As a Prototype Formulation Technologist at the No7 Beauty Company, you will be responsible for the up-front development of innovative formulation solutions that align with our Brand’s strategic plans. This includes development of formulation technology to be used across our franchises and complete formulation solutions. Collaborating with a diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, you’ll ensure our formulations meet consumer expectations, category goals, and brand standards. Prototype Formulation Technologists report directly to the Prototype Formulation Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Accountable for delivering the formulation activities on the brand NPD and EPD plans against the consumer, category and brand requirements.
- Uses high levels of expertise and laboratory experience to build our innovation and formulation pipeline - optimising product specifications, challenge thinking and ensuring the best, most scientifically robust product design.
- Responsible for ensuring global regulatory compliance, quality and safety of our formulations.
- Responsible for laboratory manufacture and testing of our internally developed No7 Beauty Company formulations.
- Supports the design of and preparation for Prototyping consumer studies.
- BSc in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Industry experience in the relevant area of formulation.
- Ability to use technical know-how to solve problems and create business opportunities to enhance consumer value.
- Follows robust scientific principles in work and uses this to solve problems and create new opportunities.
- Designing, conducting and reporting robust experiments and scientific investigations.
- Ability to effectively communicate specialist technical information to a variety of audiences.
- Good understanding of the value chain and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent knowledge of multiple formulation technologies, raw materials and technical IP requirements within appropriate regulatory and legislation area.
- Skilled in managing your own project timelines and priorities, and work collaboratively with a cross-functional team.
- Shows agility and a growth mindset.
- Completion of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists Diploma in Cosmetic Science.
- Experience of patent searching.
- Awareness of Cosmetics Regulatory landscape.
- Experience of facial skincare formulation including UV protection.
