As Building Services Manager, you’ll shape strategy, drive technical excellence, lead a small team of internal specialists, specialist supply chains and influence major property projects across the Boots estate. As a Building Services Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our facilities are safe, efficient, and welcoming.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading architectural and building services activity across a diverse portfolio of property projects.
- Planning and coordinating specialist resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the right quality standards.
- Managing and developing a network of specialist contractors, consultants and suppliers.
- Setting and maintaining relevant specifications, standards and governance across the estate.
- Acting as the technical lead for building services, identifying and resolving risks, challenges and delivery issues.
- Driving innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement in engineering solutions and ways of working.
- Providing leadership, coaching and development support to build capability and performance within the team.
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves):
- A degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in building services within a retail, property, construction or similar operational environment.
- Experience leading building services activities across multiple projects or programmes at the same time.
- Experience managing consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers, including performance and quality standards.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, engineering standards, health and safety requirements and compliance processes.
- Experience developing technical standards, specifications or governance processes for building services and engineering works.
- Proven people management experience, including setting objectives, supporting development and managing performance.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work across multiple projects and deadlines.
It would be great if you also have:
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, a recognised professional body such as CIBSE, IMechE or IET.
- Experience working in a large retail or multi-site property environment.
- Experience supporting sustainability, energy efficiency or carbon reduction initiatives within property projects.
- Experience introducing improvements to processes, standards or ways of working.
- Knowledge of contractor onboarding, competency assessment and supply chain performance management.
- Experience working with project, procurement and commercial teams to support successful project delivery.
- An interest in new technologies and engineering solutions that improve building performance and efficiency.
