About the role:

Welcome to the Boots Customer & Category team – an exciting team at the heart of Boots UK’s growth plans. Our Customer & Category Managers work at pace, building excellent relationships both internally and externally, as well as across functions. You’ll be able to demonstrate great team management skills, and work with agility to deliver the best opportunities for Boots. You’ll be accountable for executing the commercial strategy across your categories and executing the best possible delivery against this ambition.

Reporting to the Head of Category, the Customer & Category Manager will be a key member of the category team. This role leads a team to deliver brilliant growth plans for our customers that drive differentiation and category growth.

  • Be responsible for building and delivering the category strategy.
  • Strong understanding of core commercial levers.
  • Building great relationships with our existing supplier partners and discovering and onboarding new suppliers to create the best possible plans for our customers.
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset, to pull all available levers to optimise the category.
  • Be the expert in our customer – understand what they need now and what they would love in the future.
  • Lead a team supporting them to drive the business and helping them to achieve their career goals.

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves):

  • You will demonstrate building great relationships internally and externally, leveraging those relationships to make the most of every opportunity.
  • You will have strong commercial awareness with a deep understanding of customer needs and motivations – able to translate insight to strategy to trade plans which capitalise on customer and market opportunities.
  • You will be a competent leader who creates commitment and belief in others – playing a key role in ensuring suppliers and internal stakeholders are bought in to the vision for the future of the business.
  • A proactive, go-getter – doesn’t wait to be told what to do, but goes after new opportunities to drive the business harder.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Previous experience in retail and category management, with great negotiation skills.
