What you'll be doing

In this dynamic role as an Assistant Category Manager, you will play a crucial part in understanding customer needs and enhancing product offerings in the Personal Care and Seasonal categories. You will support the Category Manager in achieving the annual budget and negotiating Joint Business Plans with suppliers, ensuring that Boots remains a leader in the Irish market. Your contributions will directly impact the customer journey and the overall success of the Boots ROI team.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the sales plan for the category and enhance the customer journey through promotions.
  • Assist the Category Manager in delivering the annual budget and negotiating Joint Business Plans with the Irish supplier base.
  • Provide exceptional communication and problem-solving support to our stores.
  • Analyse sales performance to define product ranges and space in-store.
  • Build strong relationships with UK counterparts to cascade UK-led plans.
  • Identify local opportunities in Ireland and launch new products ahead of the market.
  • Deliver and lead reporting calls weekly and monthly to various stakeholders across the UK and Ireland.

What you'll need to have (our must-haves)

  • Previous experience as a category assistant or in a junior buying/category manager role within a trading function.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple big brands across various subcategories.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, with the ability to extract and manipulate raw data and analyse performance and commercial data effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, ensuring accuracy and a 'right first time' mentality.
  • Experience in supplier funding to maximise commercial opportunities.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to delve into reporting requirements.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to Ireland.

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience in a Healthcare, Personal Care, Seasonal or Beauty-led function.
  • Awareness of social media trends.
  • A passion for retail and a focus on career development within the trading function.
