What you’ll be doing
As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores, reporting to the Store Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
  • Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
  • Listening to the needs of customers and offer expertise and advice.
  • Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
  • Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
  • Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)

  • Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
  • Passion for your own learning and development, completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.

• Standalone Boots Opticians practice located within The Avenue at Mearns
• Free-standing store, not located within a Boots UK store
• Well-established practice serving the local Newton Mearns community
• Open 7 days a week

Clinical Equipment
• 3 testing rooms
• OCT available
• Pre-registration

The Team
• Supportive and experienced team
• You will work alongside another part-time Dispensing Optician
• Opportunity to work within a collaborative clinical environment with a strong focus on patient care

Working Pattern
• Full-time position, 5 days per week
• Store opening hours: Monday–Saturday 9:00am–5:30pm
• Sunday: 11:00am–4:00pm
• Weekend-on, weekend-off working pattern
• Shifts generally run 9:00am–5:30pm

Parking & Transport
• Good local bus links
• Convenient parking available nearby at approximately £1.70 for the full day
