Role: Software Development Manager

Contract: Permanent

Shift Pattern: Full Time

Location: Isle of Wight/Nottingham/London

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and managing a small but mighty team of Developers and testers, bringing a blend of technical and functional skills to designing and delivering solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading a multi-functional team of Software Engineers and Software Testers.
  • Co-ordinating the on-going development, stability and maintenance activities relating to in-house software applications / solutions.
  • Working with other development teams and partners to ensure overall initiative is implemented cross functionally.
  • Working across the business to ensure project delivery and providing accurate estimations and solutions to various business partners.
  • Provide leadership and management to Development team, dealing with day to day staffing issues and co-ordination of development / maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and test reliable, effective and scalable solutions.
  • Conducting business analysis with business stakeholders and gathering requirements.
  • Documenting requirements, specifications, release notes.
  • Provide training, support and assistance to operational and testing teams.
  • Remain current on new developments within the developer community, evaluate applicability and drive rapid adoption of them.

What you'll need to have:

Essentials Skills
  • 10+ years of proven Software Development experience using Microsoft technologies such as C#, MS SQL, Azure
  • Strong understanding of various Software Testing methodologies
  • Excellent ability to explain technical concepts to appropriate audiences in non-technical terms
  • Extensive experience maintaining and supporting software solutions
  • Must have an understanding of OOP fundamentals and best practices / common design patterns
  • Experience working with the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of databases technologies, such as MS SQL or similar
  • Hands on experience of source control such as Git
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum, Project Management, SDLC, ITIL and Data Security & Compliance and other frameworks
  • Led and directed small teams of software engineers and software testers, contributing to the teams learning development and carrying out performance reviews.
  • Comfortable in creating, preparing and delivering presentations to multiple key stakeholders.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Prior experience of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. Azure DevOps or similar
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Working on both Modern and Legacy systems
  • Experience of ensuring stability of legacy systems with a path to modernisation
