As a Formulation Scientist at Boots, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our product offerings by leveraging your scientific and technical expertise to develop high-quality, compliant products that meet consumer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of new consumer healthcare and beauty formulations from concept to market, ensuring delivery to agreed time, cost and quality standards.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of formulation technologies, regulatory requirements, medicinal legislation and technical IP.
  • Manage and coordinate formulation projects with a high degree of autonomy, identifying and mitigating technical and delivery risks.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, including third-party manufacturers and co-developers, to ensure successful scale-up and manufacture.
  • Operate confidently within a factory and manufacturing environment, maintaining strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Contribute to the wider Boots Product Brand strategy by developing beauty and healthcare formulations that meet consumer needs and commercial objectives.

What You'll Need to Have (Our Must-Haves)

  • Degree in Science or Technology, with 3+ years' formulation experience ideally with beauty or healthcare, including licensed medicines.
  • Strong expertise in health and or beauty formulations, with a demonstrable track record of delivering products from concept to market.
  • Excellent knowledge of multiple formulation technologies and a solid understanding of the end-to-end value chain and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to manage complex formulation development projects, influence stakeholders and work effectively across functions.
  • Highly organised, risk-aware and detail-focused, with the confidence to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passionate about formulation science and motivated to make a meaningful contribution to the future success of the Boots brand.

  • Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with consumer insights and market trends in health and beauty.
