Flagship Store Manager – Opticians

Full-Time On-site
B
Are you an experienced retail leader who thrives leading large teams, shaping high-performing culture and delivering exceptional customer and patient experiences?

As a Flagship Store Manager, you'll lead one of our largest and most prestigious Boots Opticians stores. These stores are at the forefront of the business, offering the latest optical technology, enhanced clinical services, hearing care and exceptional customer experiences, all within a larger and more complex operating environment.

At Boots Opticians, we help people see what's possible. As a Flagship Store Manager, you'll lead a team that delivers exceptional care, expertise and service, making a meaningful difference to customers, patients and colleagues every day.

Leading a team of approximately 40 colleagues, supported by Assistant Store Managers and experienced clinical professionals, you'll create a culture where people feel valued, supported and inspired to perform at their best. You'll balance customer care, clinical excellence, people leadership and commercial performance, ensuring your store delivers outstanding results across every area of the business.

No two days are the same. One day you could be coaching future leaders, reviewing commercial performance and shaping store strategy; the next, you'll be supporting your leadership team, engaging with customers and patients, and partnering with regional stakeholders to drive performance and innovation.

This is an opportunity to lead one of the most significant stores in our network, influence the future success of the business and make a real impact on the colleagues, customers and communities you serve.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Flagship Store Manager, you'll report directly to the Regional Manager and lead one of our most complex and high-profile stores. While you'll remain connected to the day-to-day operation, your primary focus will be on leading through others, developing future leaders and ensuring exceptional standards are delivered consistently across every area of the business.

You will:

  • Lead, coach and inspire a large and diverse team to deliver exceptional customer, patient and commercial outcomes.
  • Create a high-performance culture where colleagues feel supported, engaged and empowered to succeed.
  • Lead through a team of Assistant Store Managers and senior colleagues, creating accountability and empowering others to take ownership of their areas.
  • Delegate effectively across the leadership team to ensure the smooth running of a large-scale and complex operation.
  • Drive commercial performance through effective leadership, resource planning and a strong understanding of key business metrics.
  • Champion exceptional patient and customer experiences, ensuring consistently high standards of service and clinical care.
  • Maintain outstanding operational standards across all areas of the business, ensuring customers receive a seamless experience.
  • Oversee multiple services and customer journeys, including optical and hearing care services.
  • Build strong relationships with your Regional Manager, regional teams and support functions to drive continuous improvement and business performance.
  • Use your understanding of the local community to identify opportunities that support both patient care and commercial growth.
  • Develop future leaders, creating a strong talent pipeline for the wider business.
  • Take ownership of the overall performance of the store, balancing strategic priorities with operational excellence.

What You'll Need to Have

  • Experience leading large teams of 30+ colleagues within a customer-focused retail, healthcare or service environment, or managing a similarly complex multi-department operation.
  • Proven ability to inspire, coach and develop leaders and colleagues to deliver exceptional results.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand performance drivers, analyse business performance and make informed decisions.
  • Experience managing operational performance within a fast-paced customer-facing environment.
  • The confidence, presence and decision-making ability to lead a large flagship store and work closely with senior stakeholders, including your Regional Manager.
  • Experience driving high standards of customer experience while delivering commercial and operational outcomes.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • A passion for developing people and creating high-performing teams.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

  • Optical retail leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of hearing care, optical services or other customer-focused healthcare services.
  • Experience working within a healthcare or clinical environment.
  • Experience developing future leaders and managing through a leadership team.
  • Confidence using technology, data and insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
