The Business Partner role is responsible for defining and delivering data-centric products and solutions. This role bridges the gap between business needs, customer requirements, and technical development, ensuring the successful implementation of data-driven strategies. The Business Partner will work with cross-functional teams to create data products that provide actionable insights, enhance business intelligence, and support strategic decision-making. This role will act as an advocate for the Data and BI, engaging with divisional teams to define requirements and ensure the design of end-to-end solutions. Ensuring clear statements of deliverables, outcomes, and delivery plans to enable progression to the delivery stage. It requires strong stakeholder management, ability to look into the granular and consider views and opinions across both business and IT teams. The role is responsible for ensuring solutions are defined and aligned with the Data and BI strategies while maintaining data security, trust, and governance.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate with business and IT SMEs to ensure requirements are agreed, signed off, data and technical solutions are fit for purpose to meet the requirements and delivery plans to secure appropriate funding.
- Support the divisional teams, as required, with the creation of Business Cases to secure the delivery funding and ensure the proposed Data and Analytics elements of the project are clearly understood and correctly scoped.
- Lead the definition of product features and specifications for data-driven products such as analytics dashboards, data and BI, APIs, and machine learning models and ensure stakeholders are aware of the releases.
- Manage a small team of Associate Business Partners and collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysis, Solution Architects and BI resources to balance the pipeline of emerging and active projects.
- Engage with and present to senior leadership steering committees and governance forums.
- Ensure that product development aligns with customer pain points and business problems, focusing on delivering actionable data insights.
- Present product updates, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Support stakeholders to shape their Data and Analytics strategies into real business cases and delivery plans.
- Serve as point of contact and partner with key stakeholders to assess feasibility and scope of intake requests and to gather and translate requirements into product features.
- Collate and elevate risks associated with data products, including data security, privacy concerns, and technical challenges.
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves):
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline, or have equivalent vocational training or industry experience.
- 5+ years of experience in data product management, data analytics, data engineering, or a related role.
- Experience in project delivery and/or as a senior business analyst in data and analytics IT projects.
- Prior experience in a global matrix environment, collaborating with multiple suppliers and project teams.
- Experience managing cross-functional and global teams, assessing their priorities whilst aligning to the Data and BI strategy.
- Excellent senior/exec stakeholder management skills - must be very comfortable discussing and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data management principles, including governance, quality, security, and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with data tools and platforms: SQL, MS Azure cloud technologies, Databricks, PowerBI.
- Knowledge of data modelling, ETL pipelines, and data warehousing principles.
- Understanding of data privacy and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Trello, ADO).
