Day to day, that means turning business priorities, plans and updates into communications that are simple, engaging and drive understanding and action. You’ll work across the business, supporting all functions and be just as comfortable chatting with store colleagues as you are supporting senior leaders. Alongside internal comms, you’ll support corporate, external and ESG activity, giving you a broad and strategic view of how the business shows up and communicates.
We’re looking for someone who writes well, brings ideas, takes initiative and is confident owning their area while working closely with the Head of Communications to deliver our overall Communications strategy.
What you’ll be doing
- Internal communications
- Lead the day-to-day internal communications across stores and Support Office.
- Own channels like Viva Engage and Poppulo, keeping content relevant, timely and engaging.
- Create clear, well-written and visually engaging content across posts, newsletters, presentations and updates using data and insights to continually improve effectiveness.
- Turn complex or business-critical information into something people actually understand and respond to.
- Partner with the People team to support engagement, change and colleague experience, bringing our strategic narrative to life in day-to-day communications.
- Support ESG communications, helping colleagues understand the impact we’re having across communities, sustainability and responsible business.
- Leadership & business communications
- Draft and shape messages and content for senior leaders ensuring clarity, tone and alignment with Boots values.
- Research, draft and support the development of speeches, remarks and talking points for senior leaders.
- Keep leadership communications clear, consistent and human.
- Support the business through key moments, announcements and change.
- Campaigns, projects & events
- Lead communications projects and campaigns from idea through to execution, managing timelines, stakeholders and delivery.
- Bring a practical, creative approach to how we engage colleagues, finding simple ways to make messages land better.
- Support key events and moments, from planning through to on-the-day delivery.
- Work across teams to keep messaging aligned and joined up.
- Corporate & external
- Support corporate communications activity, including media monitoring and preparing written responses or statements where required.
- Help shape and develop clear key messages, briefings and content for a range of audiences.
- Work with agency and vendor partners to deliver activity to a high standard and on brief.
- Partners, budgets & delivery
- Manage agency and supplier relationships for your projects.
- Manage budgets for assigned activity, ensuring good value and strong delivery in line with agreed plans and priorities.
What you’ll bring
- Around 5 years’ experience in communications (in-house or agency).
- Strong writing skills and a good instinct for what works.
- Solid experience delivering internal communications or engagement activity.
- Confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Experience leading projects or campaigns end to end.
- Experience working with agencies or external partners.
- A good understanding of internal comms channels, trends and best practice.
- Familiarity with tools like PowerPoint, Canva and basic video editing.
What you’re like
- You’ve got strong judgement and are comfortable owning workstreams.
- You’re organised and follow things through.
- You bring ideas and look for better ways of doing things.
- You’re comfortable working at pace and juggling priorities.
- You’re approachable, grounded and easy to work with.
- You build strong relationships naturally, whatever level you’re dealing with.
