Role Overview

Condor is the largest digital transformation programme Boots has ever undertaken. Giving better tools and efficient processes to our teams is one of our main objectives and so ensuring that everyone who is impacted by the change is properly equipped is key.

Working alongside the Condor Change team, the Condor Training Manager will build an understanding of the expected impact on all our teams and use this knowledge and insight to create a functional and technical training strategy and plan for all impacted teams.

You will build strong partnerships with the central L&D Partner and HR Business Partner to align the functional training strategy you have created with the overall L&D plan and People Plan for Digital, ensuring that creation and delivery timeframes complement one another across the board.

The Condor Training Manager is accountable for designing all elements of training for all teams impacted by Condor, for all teams both in support office (likely to be around 1000 people across Digital, Marketing, Supply Chain and Retail Operations) and right across our stores estate.

The Condor Training Manager will be responsible for ensuring a blended solution of quality technical and functional learning materials and resources are built and deployed effectively for all impacted teams, tracking and reporting on progress, highlighting risks and actions required as needed to inform and meet project milestones and KPIs.

This role, as an integral part of the Condor project team, will report to the Head of Business Transition within the Digital structure with a dotted reporting line to the Head of Functional & Transformation Capability in the central Learning & Development (L&D) team, to ensure alignment with wider Boots L&D best practice, platforms and techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand the technology and process changes being brought about by Condor and use this understanding and insight to create a functional and technical training plan which supports team members through these changes.
  • Complete training needs analysis for all the teams impacted by Condor.
  • Define the goals and measures of success for learning and work with the Central L&D Team to define and build reporting that will allow progress to be tracked and measured.
  • Define the Condor training strategy and plan, gain sign off from key stakeholders on approach and define the resource required to deploy it successfully.
  • Work with procurement and act as business lead to source and engage expertise to build / deploy learning solutions for the project.
  • Manage the Learning Design and Delivery resource to build and deploy the agreed training assets setting out a plan that will meet project milestones and enable accurate tracking to highlight risks and actions required.
  • Schedule and deliver all training activities in partnership with the Central L&D team and HRBP ensuring that the different elements of the rollout align with the overall People Plan for Digital.
  • Report on learning completion and attendance, manage stakeholder relationships and hold leaders accountable for their team\’s completion rates for any virtual or e-learning-style modules.

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent stakeholder management across multiple functions and third parties (our implementation partner is an external agency)
  • Strong project management capability, able to manage and deliver the training plan for all those impacted by Condor
  • Build system expertise- experience of immersing yourself into projects to truly understand and interpret the new system and related processes.
  • Takes ownership and holds others to account
  • Experience using Jira will be extremely useful as this is where the programme is holding the workstream plans and all associated reporting
  • Ability to draw on their experience to flex their approach, using best practice where appropriate, and judgement where programme timings will not allow for the ideal process to be followed (Proactive and resourceful, with the ability to independently gather, glean and analyze information with minimal guidance).
