This is a permanent, 37.5-hour per week opportunity within the Dispensing Support Pharmacy (DSP) in Preston. This is a non-patient-facing role supporting Boots stores across the UK. The DSP dispenses thousands of prescription items each day and plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive their medicines safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Shifts operated on a rota basis between 6:00am and 7:00pm Monday to Saturday. Flexibility to support operational requirements as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the safe and accurate dispensing of prescriptions within a high-volume dispensing environment.
  • Provide professional support to Boots stores across the UK, responding to operational and dispensing-related queries.
  • Assist in maintaining service levels and communicate effectively with stores regarding any delays or issues.
  • Ensure patient safety remains at the forefront of all activities.
  • Support compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), governance requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Work collaboratively with Pharmacists and the wider DSP team to deliver an efficient and high-quality dispensing service.
  • Carry out final accuracy checking duties where appropriately qualified and accredited.
  • Support stock management, workflow optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all activities are completed in line with Clinical Governance principles and regulatory requirements.

Typical Day: A typical day involves supporting the dispensing process for thousands of prescription items, working closely with colleagues to maintain service levels, handling store queries, ensuring prescriptions are processed accurately and efficiently, and helping to uphold the highest standards of patient safety, governance, and operational excellence.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a registered Pharmacy Technician to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment, contributing to the delivery of pharmacy services on a national scale while supporting Boots stores and helping to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

Qualifications:

  • Registered with the relevant pharmacy regulator (GPhC, PSNI, PSI).
  • A genuine excitement for coaching and leading a dispensary team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Motivation to change things for the better for our teams, customers and patients.
  • A desire to deliver services and outstanding patient care.
  • Ability to use pharmacy systems and technology.
  • Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician with checking capability – however this is not essential as training will be given.
