About The Role

Our 12‑month programme will help you develop skills and knowledge, providing the stretch and challenge needed to give you a real insight into a career within Buying. The programme includes functional‑specific training to ensure you are set up for success. Our Category buying team is at the heart of our business, helping create compelling reasons for customers to shop at Boots. They are a dynamic team, working to deliver a unique, customer‑led range in stores across 1,000s of the best Health and Beauty brands. The team is accountable for delivering the sales and profit budget using the levers of range, price, promotions and distribution to delight our customers.

Following this, you will spend 11 months embedded with a core category buying team in our Nottingham support office, across one of our three business units: Beauty, Healthcare and General Merchandise. During the scheme, you will gain insight into Category Management, working closely with the Category Buyer to implement category plans. You will contribute to broader projects and collaborate with multiple internal teams and external suppliers to land key category initiatives, including promotional plans, in‑store brand activations and pricing updates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the delivery of customer promotions in store by setting up campaign offers such as "3 for 2", "Half Price" on the Boots PMR system.
  • Support the setting up of lines and supplier vendors for new product launches within range review windows.
  • Share product ideas, trends and insights with the buying team to ensure we have the best range at Boots.
  • Support internal teams such as marketing and pricing to ensure we land things right the first time for our store colleagues.
  • Confirm promotional funding with suppliers and raise associated invoices.
  • Support the wider category team to review market pricing and promotional activity, ensuring our offering remains competitive.
  • Run and analyse weekly sales reports for the team, identifying key performance trends.
  • Support the month‑end process and forecast promotional retro funding.
