We are looking for a permanent full‑time front‑end developer to work within our Optimisation Team building components and experiences to identify and drive growth. You will be embedded within the team and a key driver of Optimisation & Personalisation across Boots Digital. The Optimisation and Personalisation team delivers year‑on‑year incremental value for Boots.com, primarily through the deployment and subsequent analysis of A/B tests and personalisation activities on the website.
Key responsibilities
- You will bring experiments from conception to live on boots.com
- Advise on the art of the possible in test ideation
- Help specialists & designers refine hypotheses into well‑defined experiment briefs
- Write the code to bring experiments to life on the website and action the feedback during the build process
- Communicate with IT to get experiments into production
What you’ll need to have
- Strong foundational knowledge of JavaScript, HTML & CSS (TypeScript & React experience is a plus)
- Experience in DOM navigation & manipulation
- Able to integrate new features on top of existing legacy code by breaking larger problems into smaller components
- Attention to detail – both in implementing pixel‑perfect designs and in ensuring user functionality is logical & well implemented
- Able to prioritise work effectively & balance priorities
- Able to work cross‑functionally and communicate well – good stakeholder management is critical
- A degree in computer sciences (or related) or relevant professional experience
It would be great if you also have
- Previous experience working in A/B testing (client or server‑side)
- Experience working with A/B testing tools – we currently use Adobe Target
- Experience working in an agile environment
- Experience working with Git
- Familiarity with web tracking frameworks (GA4 specifically)
- Understanding of the factors contributing to site performance and the ability to structure code performantly
- Experience developing WCAG/ARIA‑compliant components & experiences
- Confidence to challenge assumptions and push for best approaches
