The In-Store Creative Design team is responsible for delivering in-store solutions for new customer experience propositions by store format. Creating engaging, functional and brand aligned retail environments that enhance the customer experience and drive commercial performance. The role focuses on assisting with concept development, design documentation and store rollout activity, while also developing technical, creative and commercial skills within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Creation of in-store creative briefs through to delivery of design intent concepts, in line with business objectives and customer insights.
- Work closely with subject matter experts (both internal and external) to deliver practical designs - reviewing operational, commercial and accessibility requirements, within budget.
- Review of basic creative design drawings, including plans, elevations, and on-shelf displays.
- Present design concepts clearly and confidently to stakeholders.
- Support in translating the creative intent into communication, merchandising, layout and design development briefs.
- Managing the design and development of on-shelf display aids directly with our external agencies.
- Brief and liaise with internal visualiser to achieve wider sign off for bespoke/new store concepts.
- Support prototype build reviews & attend site review, supplier meetings and design reviews where appropriate.
- Work within critical paths and costs in line with project plans and support creation of PINS reports.
- Assist in reviewing stores and trials post launch to capture learnings and feedback.
- Support the approval of 3rd party brand designs across the store, including our premium brands (which includes relationship building with our key partners).
- Maintain design documentation and standards.
- Learn and apply basic principles of retail design and spatial storytelling.
- Be curious about retail trends, sustainability and customer behaviour.
- Day-to-day tasks including updating project PINS and raising POs.
What You’ll Need To Have
- Good communication skills, with the ability to express ideas through both written and oral communication to either individuals or groups.
- Strong visual and organisational skills.
- Have some experience and knowledge of design processes, from creation of a brief to managing a concept into reality.
- Ability to work well with others across different teams and build relationships. Holding others to account and able to deal with challenging conversations, escalating where expectations are not met.
- Ability to collaborate with and lead external agencies and brands, with experience in project management, managing critical paths and costs in line with project plans while managing stakeholders in line with expectations.
- Able to work at pace to deliver business plans right first time in line with critical dates and within budget.
- Understand our customers' needs ensuring we can continue to develop and innovate the customer experience for the future. With an awareness of customer, market changes and industry best practice, and a passion for retail design.
- A proactive, creative thinker who focuses on future thinking whilst keeping processes simple.
- Have a basic understanding of fixtures, fittings, constructions and materials.
