Are you ready to take your career to the next level? At Boots, we're on the lookout for an Analytics Engineering Manager to join our dynamic Technology team in Nottingham, Beeston. This is your chance to make a real impact in a company that values innovation and collaboration.

As an Analytics Engineering Manager within the Data and Business Intelligence team, you will be accountable for the automation and data modelling that underpins Boots' Enterprise Business Intelligence reports, supporting the businesses in achieving its strategic goals. You will also play a key role, along with our architecture team, in shaping the future roadmap of Power BI within The Boots Group, ensuring our usage of Power BI is aligned closely with our technology and data strategies.

As part of the Data & BI extended leadership team, you will design and manage our ways of working, understand your team's acceptance into and handoff delivery requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and delivery of complex, performant semantic models that underpin our company-wide business intelligence reporting.
  • Set the strategic direction for the BI Analytics Engineering team, whilst continuously improving delivery and keeping up to date with industry innovations and changes in your specialism.
  • Drive a culture where information proactively contributes to the development of the business.
  • Promote and champion new approaches and innovative techniques that promote a best-in-class Analytics Engineering team.
  • Work closely with our BI Delivery, Business Partnering, Agile Release Train and other teams to influence the BI roadmap, and deliver new reports accurately and on time.
  • Manage our legacy on-premise reporting system and lead the transition to a fully cloud-based stack.
  • Identify resource requirements and where needed recruit, manage and develop individuals.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for version control (Git), documentation, data testing, and deployment automation (CI/CD) across the data stack.
Requirements:
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, with hands-on experience in semantic modelling and DAX.
  • Deep understanding of Kimball data modelling concepts like star schemas.
  • Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python or PySpark for data manipulation is highly preferred, ideally within a Databricks environment.
  • An experienced senior stakeholder manager with proven ability to explain technical activities to non-technical colleagues.
  • A solutions-focused mindset that thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Passionate and organised leader with excellent data literacy, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in the grey and manage complex, competing demands and multiple senior stakeholders.
  • A critical thinker with outstanding influencing skills to promote your ideas and move others toward a common vision or goal.
  • Ability to work in an omni-channel environment with the ability to see the bigger picture, get to the heart of the problem and drive the right decisions at pace.
  • Understanding of data security and governance.
