As an Optometrist at Boots, you’ll play a key role in delivering brilliant patient care – using the latest tech, working alongside experienced colleagues, and supporting your community with clinical excellence. Whether you’re leading a clinic, responding to triage, or mentoring others, no two days are the same, and your growth never stops.
Key responsibilities
- Leading clinics and delivering outstanding patient care
- Using the latest testing technology to assess eye health and provide expert advice
- Providing enhanced services, from triage support to advanced assessments, depending on store needs
- Offering clinical support to colleagues on the shop floor
- Collaborating with external healthcare professionals
- Keeping your clinical knowledge up to date and sharing it with others
- Playing a key role in your store’s leadership team, bringing energy and insight to every shift
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
- GOC registered (or expecting to be within 6 months)
- NHS performer number (or working towards it)
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- A genuine interest in patient care and team collaboration

- Experience supporting enhanced services
- A strong understanding of local clinical networks

Need To Know
We are looking for multiple mobile Optometrists on both full-time and part-time basis to visit the following areas: Gravesend, Rainham, Strood, Chatham, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge. The working pattern includes Monday, Tuesday and Saturday in Chatham, Monday and Friday in Gravesend, Monday and Saturday in Rainham.
Sevenoaks - Busy practice in affluent area, well established fun and engaging team, fully refitted in 2023.
Chatham - Busy practice inside a BUK with a Pharmacy and Dr surgery, newly refitted December 2024 - team now established and growing each year.
Rainham - small team who are like a family, single testing standalone heart of the community store in an affluent area with high volume.
Gravesend - Big sized store with lots of potential.
Tonbridge - Medium sized store with well established team members, heart of the community.
All stores are accessible by public transport with a train station and bus stop. No stores have free parking spaces; Chatham has discounted parking. Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Rainham are all affluent areas, with Rainham having a big over 60 demographic.
