In the role of Formulation Scientist, you will use your scientific and technical formulation expertise to develop suncare formulations from idea to proven technology and thereafter finished products that delight consumer’s and drive growth. About the role

• Working within a multidisciplinary technical team this role is accountable for delivering formulation activities to create a pipeline of market leading, effective, affordable & sustainable sun protection products from idea to prototype and thereafter finished product.

• Drives for a culture of scientific excellence based on structured experimental plans and critical evaluation of data. Ensures optimal specification and challenges thinking to ensure the most robust product design is in place.

• Uses expertise to develop formulations from concept to scale up. Ensures regulatory, legal & sustainability compliance for finished formulations, products, and processes.

• Accountable for ensuring effective scale up and transfer of technology to partner manufacturer(s) in UK and Europe and acts as a key point of contact for manufacturing partners and raw material suppliers.

• Stay’s abreast of industry trends and technologies through building strong relationships with raw material suppliers, CMO’s, CRO’s and finished product suppliers.

• Builds strong collaborative relationships across the business particularly with product, quality, regulatory, sourcing and No.7 Beauty Company R&D colleagues.

What you’ll need to have

• Graduate in Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or a scientific discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ experience of formulation R&D within an FMCG environment.

• Experience in formulation development within the cosmetic or pharmaceutical industry, preferably with good suncare or skincare formulation knowledge.

• Results focussed with an impressive knowledge of raw materials, formulation technology, technical IP requirements.

• Good understanding of value chain, product manufacturing and formulation processing

• Excellent project management skills and able to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
