We’re now looking for a highly knowledgeable and proactive Health and Safety Manager to ensure every colleague, patient, and visitor across our stores and support offices operates in a safe, compliant, and well-supported environment.
About the Role
You’ll lead our Health & Safety agenda across all retail, clinical, and support settings throughout the UK, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, Boots corporate standards, and best-in-class safety practice. This role is hands-on, practical, and collaborative. You’ll be the subject matter expert for all Health & Safety matters, conducting audits, risk assessments, and investigations, while embedding a strong safety culture across the business. You’ll also play a key role in developing policies, delivering engaging training, and advising senior leaders on how to continuously improve safety and wellbeing standards.
What You’ll Lead, Influence & Deliver
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide Health & Safety policies aligned with UK law and Boots corporate standards.
- Lead audits and inspections across stores, clinical settings, and offices, ensuring full compliance with HSE and CQC requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement effective mitigation plans.
- Monitor and report on safety performance, incident trends, and compliance metrics.
- Investigate accidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement preventative actions.
- Deliver Health & Safety training tailored for audiologists, retail colleagues, and support teams.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders on compliance, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
- Drive engagement in safety initiatives, embedding a proactive “safety-first” culture across the organisation.

What You Bring
- Has in-depth knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, HSE guidance, and CQC requirements.
- Is experienced in risk assessments, audits, and incident investigation.
- Has experience working across multi-site environments — ideally retail or healthcare.
- Is confident advising senior leaders and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Can translate complex regulations into clear, actionable guidance.
- Is skilled at designing and delivering engaging safety training.
- Holds or is working towards GradIOSH or CMIOSH membership (preferred).
- Brings strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
