About the Role

You’ll lead our Health & Safety agenda across all retail, clinical, and support settings throughout the UK, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, Boots corporate standards, and best‑in‑class safety practice. This role is hands‑on, practical, and collaborative. You’ll be the subject matter expert for all Health & Safety matters, conducting audits, risk assessments, and investigations, while embedding a strong safety culture across the business. You’ll also play a key role in developing policies, delivering engaging training, and advising senior leaders on how to continuously improve safety and wellbeing standards.

What You’ll Lead, Influence & Deliver

  • Develop, implement, and maintain company‑wide Health & Safety policies aligned with UK law and Boots corporate standards.
  • Lead audits and inspections across stores, clinical settings, and offices, ensuring full compliance with HSE and CQC requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement effective mitigation plans.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance, incident trends, and compliance metrics.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement preventative actions.
  • Deliver Health & Safety training tailored for audiologists, retail colleagues, and support teams.
  • Provide expert advice to senior leaders on compliance, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive engagement in safety initiatives, embedding a proactive “safety‑first” culture across the organisation.

What You Bring

  • In‑depth knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, HSE guidance, and CQC requirements.
  • Experience in risk assessments, audits, and incident investigation.
  • Experience working across multi‑site environments — ideally retail or healthcare.
  • Confidence advising senior leaders and influencing cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to translate complex regulations into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Skilled at designing and delivering engaging safety training.
  • Holder or working towards GradIOSH or CMIOSH membership (preferred).
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
