Night Shunter, Class 1
Location: Bluebell Way, Ribbleton, Preston, PR2 5PY
Hours: 38.75 hours per week
ContractType: Permanent

Pay & Hours:
- Basic Rate: £17.10 per hour
- Shift Allowance: £12.75 per shift
- Overtime: Time and a half
- Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday (8.5-hour shifts starting at 9:00 PM)
About the Role
We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced HGV Class 1 Night Shunter to join our busy transport hub. Working on a Monday to Friday fixed schedule,
you will be key to keeping our night-shift operations running smoothly, ensuring trailers are moved, loaded, and positioned safely and efficiently throughout the yard.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing Class 1 shunting duties across the site safely and efficiently.
- Positioning and switching trailers to support warehouse loading and unloading schedules.
- Conducting pre-shift vehicle checks and reporting any defects promptly.
- Adhering strictly to health, safety, and site regulations at all times.
- Trailer temperature control and monitoring
- assisting in loading operation
Key Requirements & Desirable Experience
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, CPC, and Digital Tachograph card.
- 5 years of HGV Class 1 experience (desirable).
- Experience with temperature-controlled transport (desirable).
- Experience in supermarket or retail distribution operations (desirable).
- Strong communication skills and a reliable work ethic for permanent night shifts
