Join to apply for the Junior Planning Engineer (Nuclear/Outage) role at Booth Welsh. Booth Welsh is seeking a Planning Engineer with experience in the Nuclear industry to join their team. The position can be offered on a permanent basis or hourly, depending on the candidate.

As a Planning Engineer, you will be a key member of the Strategic Planning department, responsible for the safe, quality, timely, and within-budget delivery of station shutdown maintenance periods. You will work as part of a team to prepare outage plans, organize resources, spares, and risk management for specific areas, and monitor progress during outage execution. You will support delivery and highlight risks to the lead planner and Outage Group heads. An outage involves shutdown periods for refuelling and essential maintenance, including statutory, refuelling, and inspection outages. The role requires liaising with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and Supply Chain to develop and maintain logic-linked and resourced execution plans.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop logic-linked and resourced level 3 (task) plans for specific plant areas, reviewing historic plans for differences and discussing with station departments.
  • Integrate activities, review logic and resource conflicts, and match work scope to available resources.
  • Coordinate use of common services and facilities within plant areas.
  • Maintain plans during outage execution, update progress, track critical paths, manage emergent work, and identify improvements.
  • Work with Operations to revise plans for compliance and maximize 'Defence in Depth'.
  • Participate in post-outage reviews, capturing lessons learned for future planning.
  • Support the Lead Planner and Outage Coordinator.
  • Identify and help implement outage optimization opportunities.
  • Support activities to deliver Pre Outage Milestone Plans (POMP) for statutory and off-load refuelling outages.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • HNC in engineering or relevant technical subject.
  • Knowledge of basic planning principles.
  • Ability to coordinate across teams and with contractors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Planning experience, especially with Primavera P6, is advantageous.
