Booth Welsh are working with an industrial manufacturing operation in Troon who are seeking an experienced Site Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and engineering activity across a high-volume production site. This is a senior leadership role responsible for mechanical, electrical and automation maintenance, site engineering projects, and the continued development of maintenance systems to support operational performance. Working closely with the Plant Manager and Operations teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently and reliably while supporting the organisation’s continued investment and growth.

As Site Maintenance Manager, you will take ownership of the entire maintenance function, leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians while driving improvements in reliability, uptime and plant performance. This role combines people leadership, technical strategy and operational delivery, making it ideal for a maintenance leader who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead and develop a team of maintenance engineers, fitters and electricians
    • Drive a culture of accountability, performance and continuous improvement
    • Provide coaching, mentoring and structured development for the maintenance team
    • Conduct performance reviews and support skills development
  • Maintenance Strategy & Asset Reliability
    • Implement and manage effective maintenance strategies including preventative and condition-based maintenance
    • Oversee asset management, maintenance planning and maintenance systems
    • Utilise CMMS systems (PEMAC or similar) to maximise efficiency and maintenance planning
    • Ensure preventative maintenance schedules and reliability strategies are delivered
  • Operational Performance
    • Drive improvements in plant uptime, reliability and operational efficiency
    • Monitor and deliver maintenance KPIs including downtime, uptime and maintenance backlog
    • Support production teams to maximise plant performance and capacity
    • Implement best practices in maintenance engineering and plant optimisation
  • Projects & Engineering
    • Lead site engineering projects including equipment upgrades, installations and improvements
    • Work closely with external contractors and specialist engineering providers
    • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to engineering standards
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure the maintenance function operates to site health, safety and environmental standards
    • Promote a strong culture of safe working practices across engineering teams
    • Ensure compliance with relevant industry and regulatory requirements
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Implement lean maintenance practices and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance systems, reliability and efficiency
    • Drive improvements in energy performance, utilities and plant services

We are keen to speak with experienced maintenance leaders who have a strong background in heavy industry or large-scale manufacturing environments. You will ideally have:

  • Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline) or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in maintenance or engineering management
  • Experience working within industrial manufacturing or heavy industry environments
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies such as RCM, TPM or asset management
  • Experience implementing or managing CMMS systems
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams and improve plant reliability
  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
