Booth Welsh are working with a well-established manufacturing business in Girvan to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer. This is a hands-on role supporting a busy production environment, focused on planned and reactive maintenance to ensure plant reliability, safety and performance. You’ll work closely with operations, engineering and maintenance planning teams to minimise downtime and support continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Fault Finding
    • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plant and production equipment.
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
    • Maintain equipment including conveyors, motors, pumps, drives, gearboxes and associated systems.
  • Engineering Support
    • Support maintenance planning activities by accurately recording work completed and defects identified.
    • Assist with root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
    • Liaise with contractors and suppliers during breakdowns, shutdowns and planned works.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Work safely at all times in line with site procedures and statutory regulations.
    • Ensure maintenance activities meet health, safety and environmental standards.
    • Contribute to a strong safety culture across the site.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to maintenance strategies.
    • Support plant upgrades, modifications and improvement projects as required.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Recognised engineering qualification (HNC/HND, Apprenticeship or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing, process or industrial environment.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with operations and engineering colleagues.

Desirable

  • Multi-skilled background (mechanical and electrical).
  • Experience with automated or PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Previous experience in energy, process manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Health & safety training (IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent).
